An Italian Cultural Holiday: Meet the Artists in Italy
When we founded our non profit organisation in Italy, it was with a view to bring visitors on an authentic journey through Le Marche. Authentic Marche: The D&G Association for Arts, Culture & Tourism promotes the talented artisans of this lesser known region, while supporting local communities affected by the 2016 earthquakes at the same time.
An Italian Cultural Holiday
Our Italy Design Week runs from 19th – 26th September 2020 and offers a great chance to witness the beautiful diversity of Le Marche’s landscape, while exploring the workshops and galleries of the region’s numerous artisans and talented creatives at the same time.
Visitors will have the chance to explore artisanal workshops and galleries, take part in stone sculpting and ceramic making classes, visit creatives who specialise in hand-made flooring and lighting fixtures, discover the mighty antiques market in Ascoli Piceno’s beautiful Piazza del Popolo and visit cultural heritage buildings such as the Palazzo Buonaccorsi & Palazzo Ricci – home to a multitude of ceiling frescoes and numerous works of art, as well as enjoying a guided tour around the ancient Sferisterio amphiteater.
Our intention is to shed light on the multitude of artisans and artists who work in Le Marche – creating hand made authentic Italian goods and artwork by hand, and visitors will take a tour of a university and meet a fresco painter who teaches international students these unique skills.
Authentic Marche supports locally owned accommodations – so guests will enjoy the tranquility of a 17th century restored farmhouse that serves organic four course evening meals with locally produced wine, and will dine one evening in the hilltop borgo of Torre di Palme, a charming town of stone brick houses and narrow cobbled streets that overlooks the sea. It will certainly be a Le Marche holiday with a difference!
We cannot wait to show our visitors our own Italian stone carving studio, as well as the multitude of artists and the talents that reside in our region, and our Italy Design Week is the first of many experiences we will be launching to support these communities and our non profit association, Authentic Marche.
All of our profits are donated to Authentic Marche as the first step in keeping the arts alive in Le Marche.
