Five Cool Fabrics for Summer 2018
With spring and summer and hopefully some good weather upon us, many of us are inspired to plan interiors and give our rooms a feel that reflects our newly-uplifted mood. Here are our tips on choosing fabrics that will give your rooms a quick lift, while carrying that feeling onto the winter too.
New from Designers Guild, this elegant damask instantly transforms any room into a light airy space, perfect for summer. Inspired by the picturesque towns surrounding Italy’s Lake Como, Carlotta is a linen-rich, wide-width fabric that lets the light in and creates a beautiful sheen at the same time.
It comes in five sophisticated and shimmering colourways and is perfect for curtains and blinds. Carlotta is also machine washable for added practicality.
This striking embroidered botanical feature fabric from Harlequin is a viscose/linen mix and is perfect for curtains, blinds and cushions.
Available in five fashion forward colour combinations, its contemporary design brings a summer vibe to any room and creates a focal point at the same time.
PALME BOTANIQUE EMERALD
Perfect for any Italian home, modern or rustic, this beautiful palm print fabric creates a summer vibe in an instant. Available from Designers Guild’s Giardino Segreto range, this highly detailed botanical study of palms and foliage is highlighted with soft washes of watercolour and pencil shading.
Digitally printed onto white cotton canvas, Palme Botanique Emerald is a contemporary fabric design and can be used for all interior upholstery projects including curtains, bedcovers, cushions and blinds. Available in one versatile colourway.
Clarke and Clarke have collaborated with artist Emma J Shipley to create a range of coordinating fabric and wallpaper, incorporating rich velvets, luxurious satins and shimmering effects. Mystic, magical and exotic, ‘Animalia’ features tropical parrots, swinging lemurs, fierce tigers and delicately hand drawn giraffes.
Perfect for all types of upholstery (how amazing is the sofa above?), one of our favourites from the collection is Amazon Red, available in either 100% cotton or a as a luxurious velvet, and adds a fun summer vibe to any room.
New from Sanderson’s Bay Willow Weaves collection, Laurie features a soft damask pattern and comes in five colours, one of our favourites being Mineral.
This cotton/linen combination is contemporary and elegant at the same time, and looks great in both Italian & UK homes, introducing a crisp, fresh feel to interiors. The sheers are perfect for lightweight curtains, whilst other styles in the range can be used for curtains, blinds and cushions.
